Dr. Trost's Vision for the Future of JSM:

Dr. Trost brings with him a visionary approach to further elevate JSM's impact and outreach. His vision includes initiatives to enhance the journal's impact factor through innovative article series, such as epidemiology papers, "How I Do It" technique showcases, and sections on innovations, complications, and rare sexual medicine findings, among others. Additionally, he aims to improve outreach efforts, foster diversity, equity, and inclusion, and refine the reviewer selection process. Dr. Trost also proposes strategic considerations for the future of open access and financial sustainability, including further expanding JSM’s reach into social media.  Other key initiatives will include simplifying the submission process, consolidating invitations sent to ISSM members for reviews (avoiding duplications and overtaxing individual contributors), clarifying key factors needed to achieve an acceptance in the journal, enhancing services provided by the journal including pre-submission draft reviews and writing services, among others.  By implementing these strategic initiatives, Dr Trost is committed to ensuring that JSM remains at the forefront of sexual medicine research and education.

The Journal of Sexual Medicine publishes multidisciplinary basic science and clinical research to define and understand the scientific basis of male, female, and couples sexual function and dysfunction. As an official journal of the International Society for Sexual Medicine and the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health, it provides healthcare professionals in sexual medicine with essential educational content and promotes the exchange of scientific information generated from experimental and clinical research.
