The Journal of Sexual Medicine publishes multidisciplinary basic science and clinical research to define and understand the scientific basis of male, female, and couples sexual function and dysfunction. As an official journal of the International Society for Sexual Medicine and the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health, it provides healthcare professionals in sexual medicine with essential educational content and promotes the exchange of scientific information generated from experimental and clinical research.
The Journal of Sexual Medicine includes basic science and clinical research studies in the psychologic and biologic aspects of male, female, and couples sexual function and dysfunction, and highlights new observations and research, results with innovative treatments and all other topics relevant to clinical sexual medicine.
The objective of The Journal of Sexual Medicine is to serve as an interdisciplinary forum to integrate the exchange among disciplines concerned with the whole field of human sexuality. The journal accomplishes this objective by publishing original articles, as well as other scientific and educational documents that support the mission of the International Society for Sexual Medicine.

Sexual Medicine welcomes manuscripts on basic anatomy and physiology pertaining to human sexuality, pharmacology, clinical management of sexual dysfunction, epidemiological studies in sexuality, psychosexual and interpersonal dimensions of human sexuality, clinical trials, and other articles of interest to clinicians and researchers interested in human sexuality. The open access format of Sexual Medicine ensures that accepted manuscripts will be rapidly published and fully accessible by interested healthcare professionals worldwide.Sexual Medicines emphasis on papers relevant to specific populations distinguishes it from The Journal of Sexual Medicine, which will continue to publish manuscripts on issues of general interest to sexual medicine practitioners worldwide, and Sexual Medicine Reviews, which publishes systematic reviews of controversial topics in sexual medicine.
Sexual Medicine will consider all types of original clinical and basic research papers, including studies conducted with human subjects and experimental models, as well as high-quality clinical, epidemiological, and healthcare policy papers related to sexual function and dysfunction. Sexual Medicine particularly focuses on papers of regional or specialty interest, although any manuscript dealing with sexuality research will be considered. Sexual Medicine Reviews publishes evidence-based, in-depth reviews of the highest caliber on multi-disciplinary clinical or translational topics in Sexual Medicine. These reviews, published quarterly, embrace wide-ranging, comprehensive subjects of sexual function and dysfunction in all genders.
The scope of SMR represents the diversity of subjects in basic science and clinical practice that define sexual health, sexual function, sexual dysfunction and sexual medicine. SMR is targeted at the sexual medicine investigator, practitioner, and trainee, but is also explicitly intended to appeal to and serve the needs of a broader audience of generalists and specialists with interest in or need of a high quality overview of a specific topic in sexual medicine.

Video Journal of Sexual Medicine (VJSM)
Welcome to the new Video Journal of Sexual Medicine!
I am delighted to announce that the Video Journal of Prosthetic Urology (VJPU) has now been officially renamed the Video Journal of Sexual Medicine (VJSM). I am truly honored to have been named Editor-in-Chief of VJSM and look forward to continuing the legacy of my predecessors, Dr. Steven Wilson and Dr. Rafael Carrion. We certainly have big shoes to fill!
The new and refurbished VJSM’s vision is to be a more inclusive video journal that encompasses all the various aspects of Sexual Medicine. While prosthetic urology will certainly continue to be a mainstay of the journal, we aim to expand the journal to include content related to male infertility, genitourinary reconstruction/trauma, Peyronie’s disease, male lower urinary tract symptoms (BPH/OAB), male urinary incontinence, esthetic/cosmetic urology, gender-affirming care, genital malignancies, hypogonadism, scrotal surgery and of course female sexual dysfunction. The journal will not only be geared toward surgical videos but will also welcome procedural, clinical, and other instructional content. Finally, VJSM will also include a Residents Corner, which will focus on videos geared towards the education of trainees through a structured didactic process.
On behalf of the new editorial board, I am excited to launch VJSM as the newest journal in the expanding ISSM publication portfolio. Through your support and submissions, I hope we can make it a comprehensive and inclusive journal for ALL Sexual Medicine-related content!

About Read & Publish Agreements:
A read-and-publish agreement is a type of transformative agreement between academic publishers and institutions (such as universities or research organizations) to provide access to scholarly journals and, at the same time, allow researchers affiliated with those institutions to publish their research in those journals without additional charges (such as article processing charges or APCs). Traditional subscription-based models have been the primary method for providing access to academic journals, where institutions pay substantial fees to access content.
