“I want to have sex, but my partner doesn’t, is that normal?” This question and the underlying interpersonal discordance which it illustrates are not only common but often account for a significant portion of the sexual issues faced by many couples. The current webinar will address this topic from a scientific and clinical standpoint and will focus on both the contributing factors leading to ‘desire discordance’ as well as various therapies which exist to address these common issues.
Dr. Michael A. Perelman is a Clinical Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and former Clinical Professor of Reproductive Medicine, and Urology at Weill Cornell Medicine in NYC. He has directed its Human Sexuality Program, (founded by Dr. Helen S. Kaplan) for over 20 years. In 2012 he founded the MAP Education and Research Foundation a 501(c) (3) public charity, that emphasizes a biomedical-psychosocial and cultural approach to the diagnosis and treatment of sexual disorders, using its Sexual Tipping Point® Model. His co-edited, Management Of Sexual Dysfunction In Men And Women: An Integrated Approach, was published in 2016. He has published over 65 peer reviewed articles, countless abstracts, posters, and over 25 chapters in sexual medicine texts, along with delivering over 285 invited presentations. In 2022, the SMSNA presented him with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Eusebio Rubio-Aurioles, MD, Ph.D. is the founder and Director of the Mexican Association for Sexual Health (AMSSAC), he was President of the Mexican Federation of Sexuality Education and Sexology (FEMESS). President of the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) and President of the Latin American Society of Sexual Medicine (SLAMS). He is a professor in the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and he directs a Ph.D. program in Human Sexuality at Universidad Nexum de México.

She teaches several courses and workshops on sexual responding at the university and in post-academic sexology trainings. Her research involves psychophysiological studies on basic mechanisms of sexual functioning, sexual interactions between partners, and attachment in relation to sexual responding. Her clinical (research) focus is on female genital pain. She is editor-in-chief of the Dutch Journal of Sexology and Secretary General of ESSM.
