Purpose
The general mission of the education committee shall be to fulfill the needs of the members by making quality and diverse educational opportunities available to as many members of the association as possible. A specific obligation is to develop the ISSM University as a curriculum and guideline in sexual medicine that can be disseminated globally.
Responsible for:

- Develop the ISSM University as a curriculum and guideline in sexual medicine that can be disseminated globally.
- Develop a long-term educational strategy in collaboration with affiliated societies that will fulfill the need of members and reassure the quality of sexual medicine health care.
- Assure the quality and accuracy of educational content which is developed for the above modalities.
- Support educational projects from regional societies to improve sexual medicine training and scientific information dissemination.
Committee members have quarterly online meetings, although the individual subcommittees meet more regularly on a monthly basis. Committee members are expected to actively contribute and advise on a range of educational projects as outlined below:
ISSM monthly webinars (separate subcommittee) – review content, suggest topics, speakers and moderators and/or participate themselves as speaker/moderator.
ISSM University (separate subcommittee) – review current content and contribute to new content, facilitate alignment with educational content offered by regional affiliate and international certification programs including CME and MJCSM certification.
ISSM Podcasts (separate subcommittee) - – review content, suggest topics, speakers and moderators and/or participate themselves as speaker/moderator.
ISSM Program Endorsements – review and approve requests (2-5 times a year).
ISSM Survey Requests – review and approve requests (2-5 times a year).
Review, develop and improve other educational projects, i.e. the ISSM Ask the Expert initiative.
Propose and execute other new educational projects as appropriate.
In addition, committee members may be asked to contribute to a bi-annual report (mid-term and end of the year), prepared by the committee chair for review by the President and ISSM Board.

Brittany Berk is a urologist currently completing her subspeciality fellowship training in male sexual medicine and infertility at the Cleveland Clinic. She received her medical degree from the University of Massachusetts T.H. Chan School of Medicine and completed her urological surgery residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. She is an active member of the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) and Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA). She is passionate about improving the quality of care we deliver to men with sexual health disorders, and also developing innovative clinical and surgical training techniques to bolster the educational experience of future trainees.

Nahid Punjani, M.D., M.P.H., is a urologist with fellowship training in male infertility and men's health.
He attended McGill University in Canada for his Bachelor's of Science degree followed by a Post-Graduate Diploma in Clinical Research. He completed his medical school at the University of Ottawa in Canada, followed by his Urology residency at Western University in Canada. During his residency he concurrently completed a Master of Public Health Degree in Clinical Epidemiology from Harvard University. He then completed a fellowship in Male Reproductive and Sexual Medicine at Weill Cornell and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. During this time he also started his Doctor of Public Health Degree in Epidemiology at Columbia University in New York which he is currently completing.
He currently works as a Men's Health and Infertility Specialist at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, and hold an adjunct position at Arizona State University.

Dr. Kareim Khalafalla is a Clinical Associate Professor of Urology at the College of Medicine, Qatar University. He also serves as the Communication Chair Committee of the Middle East Society of Sexual Medicine. He obtained his bachelor’s degree with Honors from Ain Shams University in Egypt. Following this, he successfully completed his Urology residency training at Hamad General Hospital in Qatar. This was followed by a two-year clinical & research fellowship specializing in Andrology and Male Infertility at HMC, Qatar. In 2022, he concluded an Andrology fellowship at the University of Illinois Chicago, USA directed by Prof.Craig Niederberger. Continuing his journey, in 2023, he completed a Sexual Medicine fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science & MD Anderson Cancer Center under the mentorship of Prof.Run Wang. Additionally, he earned the prestigious title of "Fellow of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine (FECSM)" later that year.
He is an active member of various professional & global urological associations. He is deeply involved in numerous research projects and has received four awards for the best research proposals at international Research Innovation symposiums. Additionally, he has served as a co-investigator in multiple clinical trials, focusing on proteomics and next-generation DNA sequencing.
His primary focus lies in the field of reproductive and sexual medicine, with specializations in male prosthetic surgeries and microsurgical male infertility procedures. Dr. Kareim has a substantial publication record, with numerous articles in international peer-reviewed journals, multiple authored book chapters, and contributions as an editorial board member and reviewer for journals centered around Andrology.

Dr. Danielle Velez Leitner is a board-certified urologist specializing in Men's Health at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick, NJ. She completed her urology residency at Brown University and then fellowship in male infertility and sexual dysfunction at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her practice focuses on men's sexual health, including penile prostheses and Peyronie's Disease treatments, testosterone supplementation, male urinary incontinence, and male infertility. She oversees the Rutgers Cancer Institute Program in Sexual Dysfunction and Oncofertility. Dr. Velez Leitner is passionate about teaching, acting as a mentor to medical students and residents, and enjoys an active role in the Rutgers Urology residency program.

Linda is a Certified Diplomate in Sex Therapy, a Supervisor in Sex Therapy & Sexuality Counseling and a CE provider for the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT). She earned a B.A. in Psychology from American University and an MSW from the University of Missouri. Linda was trained and employed at Masters & Johnson Institute and served as the Director of Training & Workshops, Director of the Child Sexual Abuse Treatment Program and as a Research and Clinical Associate. She evolved into private clinical practice as a therapist specializing in sexuality and relationships while serving as an Adjunct Professor at the Brown School, Washington University in St. Louis. Linda later began publishing on Sensate Focus mindful and somatic touch techniques with co- author, Dr. Constance Avery-Clark. Following publication of a number of journal articles and a book chapter, their book, Sensate Focus in Sex Therapy: The Illustrated Manual was published in 2017. Linda has presented nationally and internationally and has been interviewed by a number of media outlets including The New York Times, CNN and VICE.
Her current interest is in transmitting information about the use of Sensate Focus techniques to physicians and Allied Health Professionals who represent the first contact with people struggling with sexual problems.

Dr. Tanginika-Simone Cuascud Vega is a clinical sexologist and sexual health educator, founder and principal of Texas Sexual Health in North Texas, USA. She partners with medical doctors, pelvic floor specialists, sex therapists, counselors and other health practitioners in finding solutions for sexual dysfunctions and intimacy concerns in individuals and couples of all sexual orientations and gender identities. She has a Doctorate in Human Sexuality from the Institute for Advanced Studies in Human Sexuality in California; a doctorate in Business Administration from Argosy University in Illinois, and postdoctoral studies in neuroscience from Emory University. She also has an MBA from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico and is a graduate of the Institute for Future Global Leaders of the University of the Virgin Islands in Saint Thomas.
Dr. Cuascud is a member of the International Society of Sexual Medicine and serves in its Education Committee, is a member of the World Association on Sexual Health and an ambassador of the American Sexual Health Association. She is also the Vice President of the Association of Hispanic Leaders in the USA. Her media presence spans from being the resident sexologist for Univision and Telemundo Dallas/Fort Worth and Univision Radio nationwide. Dr. Cuascud has various media outlets in which she showcases open, honest, and pertinent sexual health information that is straightforward and bold with a sex positive attitude. She has been a contributor for and has been featured in multiple magazines, publications and podcasts and is often invited to speak at conferences about topics of sexuality. She is a resource on the subject of sexuality and aging for various organizations that serve the 50 and older population, including the Dallas Gerontological Society, the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), The Senior Source and The Senior’s Blue Book, among others. Her works have been translated to many languages and published all over the world. Her book about late-life virginity will be published in 2023.

Sameena Rahman, MD, FACOG, NCMP, IF is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Rahman has tailored her practice to meet the needs of women for gynecologic services, specializing in menopause management, sexual medicine, and pelvic pain. After years of practicing obstetrics and gynecology in a variety of large academic settings and locations, she started her own practice - Center for Gynecology and Cosmetics - to focus on her special areas of interest to ensure patients have their best quality of life.
As for her academic appointment, she serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine in downtown Chicago.
Originally from North Carolina, Dr. Rahman attended Duke University for her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology where she also specialized in Women’s Studies. She then continued in her home state at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her medical degree. As women’s health care and women’s issues have always been on the forefront of concerns for her, she moved up north for her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Massachusetts.
Distinguished as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Sharon Peleg Nesher is a certified registered nurse (RN) specializing in oncology and a certified sex therapist. She holds a BA and an MA in Nursing from Hebrew University and Tel Aviv University, respectively, and a BA in Psychology from Open University. Sharon completed her specialization in sexual therapy at Bar-Ilan University and furthered her expertise with a fellowship in Sexual Therapy at Hadassah Mount Scopus Medical Center in Jerusalem. In 2018, she observed practices at the Male Sexual and Reproductive Medicine clinic at Memorial Sloan Kettering.
Since 1999, Sharon has worked as a therapist focusing on the sexual health of chronic patients. She began her career as a sexual therapist at the Israel Cancer Association for cancer patients. From 2005 to 2007, she interned at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. Upon returning to Israel, she founded the Mila Clinic (Sexuality for Oncology Patients) at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov Hospital), which she continues to lead today. In 2009, this clinic was awarded the Israel Cancer Association Prize.
Since 2017, Sharon has served as Co-founder, Co-director, and CEO of the Israeli Center for Sex Therapy.
Since 2022, Sharon has been a member of the ESSM FSD Scientific Sub-Committee, which is involved in writing guidelines for sexual health. She is dedicated to promoting therapeutic approaches for sexual dysfunction among cancer patients, enhancing team skills, and more.
